Stipendien

Seit April 2002 stehen bis zu 14 Promotionsstipendien für 2+1 Jahre zur Verfügung. Bewerber mit abgeschlossenem Chemie- oder Physikstudium (Diplom oder vergleichbarer Abschluß) erhalten ein steuerfreies Grundstipendium (vgl. www.dfg.de/foerder/formulare/1_30a_w.htm) von mindestens 921 Euro (+ 154 Euro Familienzuschlag) + 103 Euro Sachkostenzuschuss. Herausragende Kandidaten mit Interesse an einer interdisziplinären Arbeit können unter bestimmten, genau definierten Bedingungen auch ein höheres Grundstipendium erhalten (1365 Euro + Zuschläge).

Zusätzlich stehen bis zu 2 Postdoktorandenstipendien für jeweils maximal 2 Jahre (von 1468 Euro bis 1784 Euro, je nach Alter und Familienstand) zur Verfügung. Neben einem vorzugsweise interdisziplinären Forschungsthema wird die Mithilfe bei der Koordination von Seminaren, Projektwochen und Workshops erwartet. Der/die ideale Stelleninhaber/in ist stark an interdisziplinärer Forschung interessiert, möchte also zum Beispiel an eine Promotion in Physik oder im Bereich der Grundlagenforschgung eine eher chemisch oder anwendungsorientierte Forschungstätigkeit anschließen oder umgekehrt.

Formlose Bewerbungen für diese Stipendien können jederzeit an den Sprecher des Graduiertenkollegs (Suhm), an einen der 4 Projektkoordinatoren (A: Suhm; B: Eckold; C: Kirchheim; D: Abel) oder an einen der 16 beteiligten Dozenten gerichtet werden.

Scholarships

Since April 2002, up to 14 PhD scholarships are available for 2+1 years for candidates, whose degree in chemistry or physics is found to be at least equivalent to the german Diplom (typically, this will be a M.Sc. degree). The scholarship (see also www.dfg.de/foerder/formulare/1_30a_w.htm) amounts to at least 921 Euro (+ 154 Euro family allowances) + 103 Euro for research expenses. It is tax free. Excellent candidates who are planning interdisciplinary work may be eligible for a higher scholarship ( 1365 Euro (+ 205 Euro family allowances) + 103 Euro for research expenses) under certain well-defined circumstances.

In addition, up to 2 post-doctoral scholarships are available for a maximum of two years (from 1468 Euro to 1784 Euro, depending on age and family status). In addition to preferrably interdisciplinary research, the candidates are expected to help in the scientific coordination of our seminars, external research projects and workshops. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in interdisciplinary research, e.g. he/she has obtained his PhD in physics and is planning to work in chemistry or vice versa. Or he/she is moving from fundamental to applied research or the other way round.

We also invite motivated foreign students currently working on their Master, Honours or PhD thesis in a related field to join us for 1-3 months for the evaluation of a possible PhD thesis or postdoctoral stay at our graduate school. We may be able to contribute to the travelling expenses and the extra costs of living. Please discuss this option with your thesis advisor.
