Internships (Research Students)

The graduate school offers the possibility to host research students from Goettingen and from abroad (in particular from the greater Paris and Cambridge, but also worldwide) to participate in the current research of a member group. These little research projects can range from 1 up to 6 months (part-time, up to 10 h/week, up to 8 Euro/h). They must not be the core part of a regular Diploma, Bachelor or Master thesis.

If you are interested, you may enquire and apply informally in any of the participating groups. The groups of Suhm and Vana have formulated suitable projects within the framework of the graduate school research, but other groups may also offer projects upon request. Participation is limited by the available funds, by the available projects, and by the excellence of your study records. Once you have decided for a project, please fill out the Online Application form.

What are your benefits?

  • as a local applicant, you may extend your advanced practical course research or learn new techniques and research objectives, by working together with Diploma and Ph.D. students on attractive projects in the field of intermolecular interactions.
  • as a foreign applicant, you may widen your research horizon in an internship and may find perspectives for subsequent PhD projects
  • you may (and should!) participate in the lecture, seminar, social events and workshop of the graduate school.

What are your duties?

  • scientific curiosity and willingness to carry out serious research work
  • participation in the general graduate school teaching program
  • a written report on your work, with a short abstract suitable for this web page
  • a short oral presentation on your results and experiences

Make use of this generous possibility, which is made possible by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. We look forward to hearing from you!

Application

To apply as research student, please complete the Online Application. Make sure your browser allows popup windows and JavaScript is enabled before you choose "Online Application". You will receive an automated confirmation after we have received your application.

Please note also the DAAD European Excellence Program (EEP), which offers scholarships for students who want to study at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI), one of our cooperation partners. See www.daad.de/ausland/de/3.4.2.56.html for details.

Finally, please note the possibilities offered by the RISE program (www.daad.de/rise/en/index.html), in which our graduate school regularly participates.
